The above Bible verse is one of the first I learnt as a child during Sunday school lessons many years ago. As a Christ follower, this verse is a source of motivation for me and it has instilled the sense of confidence in me that if I want to achieve anything, God has already given me the capability and empowerment to achieve my desires. Of course, I have to do my part by following the success tips that I have learnt over the years.

I can do all things through Christ can mean different things to different people. To a student, it can mean that God has empowered you to excel in your studies. To a business owner, it can mean that God has given you what it takes to close the next business deal or win more customers. To a Pastor, it may mean that God has given you the grace to increase the number of your congregation, and win more souls for Christ. To working professionals, it may mean that you have the skills to rise in your career and become a leader in your organization. To individuals struggling with debts, any form of addictions (drugs, alcohol, smoking, gambling etc.), or if you are dealing with any types of diseases or sicknesses, it may mean that you will receive mercy to overcome your current predicament.

So how exactly can we all live the life of “I can do all things”? Why is it that the majority of the people even believers are not fulfilling their potentials? Why is it that Christians still find themselves not capable of achieving their goals? Why do we have many Christians today living life at a sub-par level? Why is it that the cares of life sometimes defeat us as we embark on the journey towards fulfilling our God given purposes?

Just like you, I am also confounded with these questions, and I want answers. I want to find out why two people of similar skills and background embarked on the same trade or business, and one of them succeeded while the other failed. I want to know why “my space” did not become a global platform that was intended while “Facebook” which was started after “my space” became a global phenomenon. Why is Apple gaining more market share in cell phone market while BlackBerry is losing out?

The answer to these and many more of the pressing questions is to look inward and truly understand the love of God towards us as human beings. There are two bible verses that I will use to illustrate why Christians need not suffer in this world. The first Bible verse is John 3:16 which says “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever belief in him shall not perish but have everlasting life”. This verse establishes the love of God for all human race. You cannot love someone and let them go through struggles in life, if humans can protect their loved ones, God will even do better. This means it is the wish of God for all humans to fulfill their potential.  Also 1 Peter 2:9 says “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” We need to recognize the fact that we are chosen to live as kings in the world. The intention and purpose of God is for us to live fulfilled lives and achieve our maximum potentials. So when next you encounter an obstacle on your way to achieving your God given goal, I want you to know that you are already equipped to get stuffs done, just go ahead –  plan, strategize, work hard, press on, and live the life of “I can do all things”.
